A/C: Receiver Dryer replacement
Dave,
If you replaced the receiver dryer last year and the system
has been sealed up you should be fine. The standard
procedure after opening up the A/C system and replacing any
components is to connect a vacuum pump to the high and low
sides of the system and suck it down to around 29 inches of
Mercury for 1/2 hour. Any moisture in the system will be
vaporized and removed. After sucking it down for a few
minutes, close both high an low side valves and see if the
system holds a vacuum for several minutes. This is a good
check for any gross leaks in the system after a repair is
done. Suck it down for the remainder of the 1/2 hour and
then recharge the system.
