I wonder about this, I really do.

Put a dog in the back of the car, abuse it a little, and it's happy. Open the
window a crack, and the nose is through it. But what is the dog getting?

On a normal walk, there's a little scent message every few feet. Each is
sniffed appreciatively, some are licked for better enjoyment, and then quite a
few receive a postscript - a friendly addition.

What's it like, psychologically, for a dog at 60mph? All that unanswered mail!
