'87 5KCSTQ Alignment -- Special tools needed ?

Took the 5KCSTQ to a local mech last week to get a four wheel 
alignment.  He told me over the phone he was sure he could do it.

When I got there I showed him the Bentley which shows two specific 
tools needed to do the job.  One was a "3078" tool, (I think, don't 
have the manual with me) the other was some other four digit number.

Seeing these, the mech said it would be a bad idea for him to try 
to do the alignment job. He might "screw something up," he said.  He 
has Hunter computerized equipment.

Question: Does he really need the special tools to do the job right ?
