ALternator--noisy, how to silence?

Hey Q heads!
the alternators on both my CQ and 90 are very noisy, they squeak pretty loud,
loud enough that my friends say, "is that your engine?".

Now, when I oil the alternator (couple of drops in the front of the
alternator, behind the belt), it silences the noise until the first rain,
then it back to chitty chitty bang bang squeaking.

ANy advice, or do you all experience the same noise?
