RE: Steering pump questions

I had a strange problem when recently replacing the o-ring seals in my
hyd. pump. I could not get the pump to prime no matter what I did. I
turned the wheels, drove the car around the block with no power
steering. After wasting about 30 min. trying to figure out what was
wrong I removed the cap to the hyd. fluid resovior and there was
actually a vacuum inside the resovior that sucked air in. I then turned
the wheels with the cap off and everything was fine.
