New engine (used + install) = say, $2500.00

Rental car home, to dealer, buy part, back to car = say, $125 (or tow home
etc.)

I'll take 20 to one odds on your making it.

Please don't do it, the one thing that shortens the longevity of these l5
engines is being driven without oil or water (or both?) for any distance,
like 5 miles...
