A friend in Portland, OR (K.Crossley, who is on this list) is using the 16 X
8 (40mm offset) 5 spoke S4 wheels on his 91 200TQ 20V with the 225/50 X 16
D40 M2 tires. He doesn't have any clearance problems that I know of. 

FYI: I did check the fit of these wheels and tires on my 89 200TQ and the
front tires are VERY close to the steering arm and the rear tires outer edge
looks like it will definetly rub against the outer lip on the fender.
