I just got the dreaded call from my mechanic about my 87 5KCST; as I suspected, the exhaust manifold gasket that I knew was leaking turned out to be a bigger deal than that. It's cracked, the heat shield is disintegrated, and the motor mount underneath is dead. So... Should I just bite the bullet and spend $800 for the new 2-piece manifold (plus a motor mount and lots of labor) or is their any hope of succesfully welding the crack/finding a used mainifold? 

I really don't want to spend $1300 on my 10 year old car if I don't have to.
