The 16v VW motor and the Audi V8 motor share similar "designs" in the
head, but that is about it. The valves, springs, guides are all directly
from a 16 VW motor. As is, the combustion chamer design and the port shape.
After that, it's ALL different! Lifters, pistons, rods, valve covers (and
assoc. gasket), spark plugs, dist., cams, Caps, rotors, etc etc etc.....are
ALL different. Heck, the intake manifold gasket is different.
