Re: speakers... 4k csq

>Now I have a question regarding speakers: I want to put my JL 12w6
subwoofer in the trunk of my 87 4k csq, but wonder about the how effective
it will be with the gas tank lining the back seat. Anyone have any luck with
this or another method?
I think the 4kq's have in common with the coupes a 3/4" or so high groove
that goes horizontally around the parcel shelf area, rear and sides. What I
did in my coupe (and I don't think I'm alone) is rip out the cardboard shelf
and cut a sheet of 3/4" plywood to fit into the groove, and a vertical piece
to go down to the metal behind the seat back. First I slowly trimmed a
piece of cardboard to the right size, as a template. Then I didn't have to
do much shaving to get the woode to fit. You cut nice little notches for
the seatbelts, and round them off. Paint it black, better yet cover it with
trunk liner cloth to match your car. That's where the rear speakers go in
this car. The amplifiers go on a vertical board mounted behind the gas tank
(not *to* it!).
