87 4k csq wheel bearing noise?

Hi all,
  Just got my 87 4k csq going again, and have the following problem:

When the car is in motion over say, 30 mph, I hear a loud whine, almost
like a hum. It's louder if the car is going left, and disappears all
together if I go right. 

It has been suggested that it's a wheel bearing? Anyone have any
experience with this? if it's noisy when I turn left, would that mean
it's the right side bearing (more weight/ force on these)?
