I had trouble with hard starting on my 86 5ktq. The cure was replacing
the fuel injectors. The O-rings go bad, and the fuel system loses
pressure while the car sits. Thus the car has to more or less prime
itself to get going again. 

On the newer cars I believe you can replace just the o-ring seals
without doing the whole injector (MUCH cheaper).

try Blaufergnugen, they might know of a real cheap fix for this.
