AC recirc door

Thanks to all who responded to my question about the location of the door for
the recirc feature of the AC. I've located the door, and when I pried it
open, all sorts of leaves on other debris fell out. Any ideas of how this may
have gotten into the system? Also, I found that the door will not open when
the recirc button is engaged with the AC on. The spring does seem to be good
condition. Is there a motor or something that opens and closes this door?
Where is it located? Thanks for any help.
