A steel hood would be OK.  And all-fibreglass cars are OK, too.  It's a 
question of the insurance company knowing and understanding _exactly_ what 
risk they're covering.  5-point belts, roll cages, extra spoilers, etc., all 
come into the same category.
 
But "bull bars" are permitted, because UK insurance companies rarely pay out 
to pedestrians ...
