RE: QTC tie rod

     All 10 valve ur-qs in North America use the same front tie rods. There 
     was a change in '83 to the position of the rear tie rods on the 
     subframe - rear tie rods changed at this time..
     
     Best price for new ur-q front tie rods I found was $200.00 Canadian 
     from Penninsula Import, it takes some digging for them to find the 
     part. Let me know if you need some help getting one, I think the last 
     time I asked VAG they wanted $400+.
