Yes, this is true. Crutchfield will sell you the wiring harness that
matches your vehicle, as long as you can tell them what the original stereo
is, factory low-end, factory high-end, etc. Their salespeople can be very
helpful in working with you to get this information.
On top of this, right now, Crutchfield will include the wiring harness for
free, depending on the model/cost of the units you select.

Very much so, and with Crutchfield's harness, you have two wires to
actually "hook up", meaning without connectors. The battery wire goes to
your fusebox to an open fuse socket that has power all the time, and a
ground wire that bolts to something metal attached to the chassis (such as
a firewall bolt or bracket, or something like that.
Crutchfield has a website, and can help you out a lot... THings have
changed from 10 years ago when everyone cut and spliced wires :)
