RE: Warped Rotors after The Glen

Damn. Looks like the $70 fronts are more disposable, eh? Did you get the
OEM ones, then send them to Paul Weston to slot (I seem to remember this
was your MO), or did you get aftermarket slotted ones?

What could cause warpage? Uneven heating? I wouldn't think so, given
that you were prolly heating them up pretty high, and they would tend to
distribute the heat fairly evenly. Uneven torque on the lugs? Did you
use a torque wrench on the lugs? Uneven cooling? How? Bad Audi karma?
You *did* just fix the A/C (fairly big karma deposit), your karma
account should not be overdrawn, now should it? Anyone Out There with an
opinion? Oops, silly question, more like: How may with an opinion?

You could put the car up on jackstands, pull the wheel, put the lugs
back in with something (lots-o-washers, oversize nut, etc.) to hold the
rotor against the hub, and spin the rotor. Any warpage would be much
more visible, even measurable if you can find a dial indicator.

You might want to check the rears, too. Did you apply the emergency
brake when you parked in the pits after coming off the track? Folklore
has this to be a cardinal sin, and a great cause of warped or stuck
rears.

Keep us up to date...

	Hi Folks,
As good a time as I had, I believe that I've warped my
rotors...severe
vibration under heavy braking load. Remedies?
New Rotors? If I don't replace them.....what's the downside
besides the
vibration? Braking itself does not appear to be affected.
	TIA for advice.
