Hi All DC CCA Members and VW Owners
I have decided that Monday evening will be the night of choice for the
impromptu CCA and VW Owner's Meeting (open to all VW or Audi owner's, not
just CCA members). We'll be meeting at VW Sport in Springfield, VA around
5:30-6PM. We can get burgers across the street, or stop somewhere later. I
figure we can hang out there for atleast an hour or so, checking out VW
Sport's toys and new VWs across the street at Springfield VW.
To get to VW Sport take 495 (Beltway) south to the I-95 South split
towards Richmond. Once onto I-95S, get right fast, and take the first exit
(Old Keene Mill Rd). Stay in the right lane. You will go under an underpass
and Houlihans will be on your right, directly after that there is a road
with a sign that marks it to get to Backlick Rd. Take a right on it and
stay in the right lane. At the first light make a right on Amhurst Rd, and
move to the left lane. You will immediately go over a bridge and on the
other side is a light. At that light take a left on Springfield Blvd. Go to
the first stopsign and take a right on Backlick Rd. Springfield VW will be
on your left and on your right across the street will be VW Sport. They are
on the second floor of the building, but all of their modded VWs and ours
will be parked in the front. Go into the center door to the steps and go
upstairs, turn right and go the whole way down to the end of the hall on
the right. Or go in the side stairwell door and they are at the top of the
steps. I will be at VW Sport by 5:30.
Sometime after 7PM we'll cruise up to Rockville. Monday evening is also
the National Capital VW Owner's Club's general meeting (open to all VW Audi
and Porsche owners, and enthusiasts though primarily VWs) and we all are
welcome to come. The venue is a detailing shop in Rockville named Detail,
Details, Details, Inc. at 15125 Frederick Rd (Rt.355). Take Rt. 270 north
to Shady Grove Rd.. At intersection with 355, take a right and go south
past Gude Dr. Details, Details, Details is on the left next to Jiffy Lube
and Precision Tune. The meeting will begin at 8:00 pm but they usually
start to arrive by 7:30.
I believe they are having this establishment give tips etc for keeping
your car looking great. The last NACVWOC meeting I went to I got home
around 10PM, but take off whenever is good for you all. One car I highly
suggest you all check out at this point is Fred Schmidt's '94 GLX with VSR
and custom gearing. It's amazing what a broader power band and the tranny
to keep you there will do.
I'd like to talk to these guys at this time on getting together with them
for their meets, and especially piggy backing their Track Days for you
autocrossers. The main point of this meeting (atleast for the CCA members)
is to figure out a regular time and interval for meetings and also to
determine what to do during meetings (cruises, autocrosses, Bugouts, trips,
cookouts, VW Anonymous meetings etc).
Please RSVP to me at this email address and let me know if you will be
attending and where you plan on meeting up with us. I don't want to take
off from VW Sport without anyone, but in case that happens, directions are
all enclosed. I will be driving my '93 Corrado SLC (green/tan) with euro
license plate on front (OS:LC 193). I will also try and remember to wear a
CCA t-shirt, so feel free to approach me and introduce yourself at any
point.
