Rear girling brakes sticking

Brakes are a common thread...

A few months ago I changed the pads all around on my '93 100 CSQ. I've
installed the KVR carbon fibre pads from Best Price, Ottawa (work great
& less dust on the alloys). This is the first pad change for this car
at 70,000 kms. The rotors were not changed.

A few weeks into the new pads, the rear driver side rotor/pads overheat
from seizing. A month later, the rear passenger side does this too. In
both cases, the seizing corrects itself, before I actually remove the
pads to try exercising the ratchet mechanism, piston, and bleeding. I
have the impression, that rather than the piston seizing, the parking
brake ratchet steps are too big. A bit of pad is burn off when the next
ratchet position is engaged in the parking brake internals. Does this
make sense?

An Audi parts guy stated that the rear Girlings are an exposure on this
car. Water can enter the ratchet mechanism over time. Should I simply
accept having the rears honed/rebuilt every time the pads are replaced?

Any insight is appreciated.
