The history of www.AudiCar.com

My rumblings were triggered not by the webzine, but by the EuroCarFinder
association. Early promotion of _that_, especially on alt.autos.audi, was
pretty damned irritating. I seem to remember that it got a few acerbic
responses, too. However great _your_ enthusiasm might be, I get so much spam,
velveeta and UCE that I'm perhaps oversensitized to _anything_ that looks like
it.

The form of the announcement on the quattro list: "Hey! Look what I've
found!" is also typical of self-promoting posts - usually from the porn
industry - that flood the newsgroups at present. Had it been an enthusiastic
post from a better-known member of the list I would not have been so sensitive.

Anyway, thank you for your courteous explanation.

(I have, for instance, given quite serious thought to auto-deleting any inbound
items containing a "!". I've found this is an almost infallible indicator of
 junk. And "!!" _IS_ infallible.)
