Actually, if you're referring to the mid/late 80's AMG Hammer wagon (6.0
AMG motor, etc etc) the car was an *aftermarket* conversion. AMG wasn't
purchased by MB until much more recently. The Hammer wagon was
definitely aftermarket - a stock 300E would be ordered from the factory,
taken to AMG, stripped of its drivetrain etc etc and rebuilt by AMG.
Thus its definitely an aftermarket conversion. MB later purchased AMG,
and shortly thereafter AMG was available through dealers. They haven't
factory-produced a fire-breathing wagon, though. For that you'd have to
go to Carlsson (et al) these days.

RS2 on the other hand WAS completely factory, and even though assembled
by Porsche with some key Porsche parts it counts - they kept it in the
family.... :)
