1987 5kq

Got one too,

Well the girlfriend does. After her Honda was broadsided by a Mack truck on
I95, she walked away, she decided she wanted a bigger car. Then maybe the next
time this happened the liscence plate on the front of the truck would at least
be obscured by the door, not seen through the window.

Anyway she found a 1987, wrongly advertised as an '88 5000S Quattro. Low miles
one owner. The dealer in exchange for the oversite and overcharging for a car a
year older than we thought replaced the rack, the water pump, the timing belt
and other stuff. A better deal than lowering the price really.

The car has the same owners manual as my '88 5ktq. It doesn't even show a dash
layout like the car has in it. Cloth interior.

A nice car really. With four snows the thing is stupid good in the snow. To
break a tire loose is an exercise in futility. Not enough power and too much
grip. Unstoppable.

The car has a far better ride over busted pavement than mine. It is both
tighter and more compliant. But it has half the mines, about 75k.

The dealer had said "oh this is a rare model". And many NADA books etc don't
even list it.

And yet now we see them all the time. Even in the same color, kind of
burgandy/maroon. When we see one we point and say "oh look another very rare
car".

So they sure do exist. I believe only as '87 and '88s.
