Door Handle Problem: 92 100 CSQW

I had thought that door handles on later model Audis were more reliable,
but I guess I was wrong.  The passenger side inside door handle on my 92
100 CSQW has stopped functioning.  I was unlocking the vehicle and my
passenger attempted to open the door at the same time.  Now it can't be
opened from the inside.  It locks and unlocks properly and opens from the
outside.  Has anyone experienced this?  Is the door panel as difficult to
remove as I suspect?
