I want to take care of a few other "little" things. The
wholesale parts supplier I've been dealing with since I got
the car no longer "buys direct" from Germany, SO, I've been
forced to the dealer... prices from the local dealer:
Transmission Filter..........$ 33.49
Trans. Pan Gasket............$ 19.84
Accessory Belt...............$ 84.04
Timing Belt..................$142.27
Water Pump (NEW).............$290.90
Water Pump (REBUILT).........$178.52
Timing Belt Relay Rollers....$111.90
Tensioner Roller.............$124.42
Engine Mount.................$127.25
It uses 2 relay rollers, and needs both engine mounts,
and I won't even consider a rebuilt WP based on the
amount of work involved in replacing it. (I wish Audi
would give a Mercedes OEM parts guarantee, if a Mercedes
OEM dealer purchased part fails, Mercyless Benz will
replace it at any Authorized Dealer on their dime.)
Total for just the parts listed is $1173.26 !?>>
I won't argue the cost prices, though I think you should be able to get
better pricing the Linda at Carlson and some others. Are all these parts
suspected replace items?
I'm on the third timing and accessory belts (last ones were actually made in
Japan, complete with VW/audi packaging from dealer), original water pump and
rollers (no offerings, please audi gods). How many miles do you have? I've
still got the original motor mounts with 178,500 miles. If the water pump
isn't leaking, I wouldn't replace it, but if there's seepage, yes.
Good luck.
