V8 Differences and the New Passat

I am with the Corrado Club of America and we are considering a raffle for
charity. Last year our idea got put by the wayside because of
organizational probs, but back on track, we're thinking about it again.
The theme was to give away a VW, and to make it attractive for ticket
sales, it was to be a beast that no one could buy. Last year we considered
a VR6 Cabrio, but that is no longer at the forefront, i.e. by the time we
have the raffle next year it'll be old news in comparison to the Passat and
the new Beetle.
We are considering giving away a Passat Syncro, but only after doing
something crazy to it. We are guessing the S4 and thus the S4 twin turbo
six cyl, will not yet be available in Aug '98, so the next alternative is a
Passat V8 with a 4.2 or smaller displacement depending on what fits.
First, does anyone know if the 4.2 V8 will fit the Passat's (and probably
the A4's) engine bay. Second, can anyone tell me the differences between
the Audi V8's engine and the Audi A8's engine? Obviously finding a spare of
one will be easier than finding a spare of the other, although I presume
OBDII will be a requirement anyway, so maybe we are limited to the A8's
powerplant.
Also can anyone foresee any problems we may run into doing the following?
6-speed transmission installation - sourced from Germany
Suspension - we like the idea of the A4 Sport suspension, but the added
weight of the engine may be a problem

The deal is with ticket sales, price is not too much of a problem, so
german sourced items like 6-speed and Audi Sport 18" wheels may not be too
much of a problem (atleast price wise).
Last, if anyone hear's of someone doing the install on an A4, could you
please tell me. I have talked to VW Sport (affiliated with Joe Hoppen) and
they said they or Joe, probably would not do it if someone else hasn't done
it first.
Most importantly if it can't be done we don't want to advertise that it
can.
