I'm glad you shared your ecru seat problem with us.  I have a '96 A4q with
the ecru interior and have experienced the very same thing, but only on the
driver's seat.  Until your post, I thought it might be the vegetable dye
rubbing off of my belt.  The reddish marking is across the lower portion of
the seatback, roughly along the lower horizontal "line".  Your explanation
(defect) makes much more sense.

I also had a similar problem with the delta radio.  The dealer replaced mine
but I believe all of the replacements are refurbished units.  I'm not
terribly impressed with the radio.  it has a lot of nice features, but seems
to work somewhat erratically.
