I can't think of a possible consequence to your fix, but if anyone
expresses a concern and you want to return to original configuration, I
have been outsmarting the lazy programmer for several years with the "LOW"
button solution.  Remember, after you have redirected the air to the front
vents, you can than touch the "HIGH" fan speed for even more relief.
