RE: Non-Audi Five electric???

And how do you propose that we generate this electricity to power these cars?
Remote emmission vehicles is more descriptive of electric cars. Is it more
efficient to carry 300 miles of petrol or maybe 100 miles of batteries that
weight twice as much? What about an accident?
Remember that the electricity has to come from somewhere. So we dam rivers
and kill salmon, or nuke it and do I need to get into the problems with that,
or burn fossil fuels in generators(hmm sounds just like a big car).

Maybe in 20 years the battery technology will allow practical automotive usage
but even then we will still have to deal with how to generate the tremendous
amount of electricity that it will require. And how are we going to transport
that electricity safely.

I think the work in the fuel cell technologies is the more productive thing to
explore at this point. Until someone builds a better battery I think the
resources should be spent on an attainable technology. Audi is working on
fuel cells now and we may be driving them for a hundred years until the
battery is built and all the other problems are worked out.

Sorry for the low audi content but here's to driving a hydrogen quattro!!!

PS this is the last post to the list on this subject.

I cant agree more with Brendan. At Pikes Peak an electric truck raced =
and, well, to put it bluntly, he was flat out flying. That think moved =
like a banshee. But it had this ghostly quietness to it. I respect =
electric cars quite a bit. THey make max. torque and HP from 0 to =
redline and are not affected by altitude. And they are clean. REally, =
the perfect engine for a car. That is one hell of a flat torque curve. =
No problem on a race corse keeping in the power band. And as a bonus =
they are good for the enviornment. Now we just need time for them to =
mature so people like me that frequently drive 100 miles a day or more =
can drive one and we need to get those prices down. =20
