RE: Audi Gods Strike!

Michael,

First of all, what kinda Audi do you have?

Well, I have a 5kcstq and I am a poor college student. I would be rich,
but I own an Audi and the Audi gods would not permit me to even be out
of debt! Anyways, I understand your dillema. I am $2,000 in debt
because of "little things" with mine. But, don't do what I am
doing.....yes, I am selling it!!!!! I hate to see it go (I love the
car), but I would rather just buy something I can drive for a few years
and then get back into a quattro when I am out of school and have a
stable job....and can actually afford to maintain it!

How does your clutch feel? If it is working OK, I'd drive it untill you
can figure out exactly what's wrong with it, and fix it (or afford to do
it)....or just do what I always do...just put it on the plastic and
worry about the damage later! Very dangerous, but it works.

I don't know the specific problem, but it may not be the clutch itself.
It could be the clutch MC, the hoses, spring, etc.... Mine makes all
kinds of funky noises (squeakes and sounds bad), but still works
fine...so untill it drops to the floor when I'm sitting in traffic, I'm
not gonna worry about it! :) Igor Kessel has a great list of all the
parts in rebuilding the clutch hydraulics and I can send it to you if
you'd like.

Clutches aren't too bad on this car (well, could be worse anyways)...run
about $700 with the labor. The part really isn't all that bad if I
remember correctly. May want to check the flywheel at this time as well
and have it sanded down if need be or replace it with the lighter 200
flywheel.

Good luck, and let me know if I can help.

By the way, I know an Amanda Nelson at Dartmouth.....Do you know her?

Later,
Dan
