Re: Extrude hone????
A substitue for Extrude hone? Sure.... I was looking for a (faster) way
to smooth manifolds, ports, and such after porting work. I'd been
smoothing the outside with glassbead for a better apearance, so why not
the inside? Grab a sand blasting gun ($40 at sears, ofcourse you need a
compressor, take your choice $250 and up for somthing decent) and a bag of
glassbead (about $10/ 100lbs) and go to work! Stick the nozzle in the
port you desire to be smoothed and pull trigger... it can take awhile
depending on what abrasive medium you're useing. Should probably start
with somthing more abrasive than glassbead now that I've thought about it
for a bit. Don't forget to mask areas (such as valve guides, bolt holes)
where you don't want material removed from. Clean well, use brushes, high
pressure water flushes these parts well too...
Enjoy!
