Special ur-quattro sighting in VA

This afternoon about 12:20 EDT I was heading east on rt. 55
in Linden Va.  Around the corner came what I thought was a 
white COUPE GT.  We were past each other in a second, but
I caught a glimpse of the rear end in my mirror.
It was a coupe, but covered with all that varicolored plastic one sees
on the back of quattro sedans of the mid-80s.  

What did I see?
