Re: Loose door panels

Re: the door panels on 80/90 series cars: they're hard to remove, and even
harder to get on again. BTDT several times, don't relish doing it again.
(But I have to, if I ever want to use the remote central locking system
I've bought- errr... a year and a half ago.

Crucial on removal is to lift the panel up, and remove the top bit first,
so as not to snap off any of the 'fingers'. That would result in a very
expensive replacement... if it's not in the Bentley, I can do a
(simplified) write-up of the removal procedure.

Even though I must have done all panels at least three times, I'm still
having trouble getting them on correctly within 45-60 minutes. The main
difficulty is in alignment, and subsequent refitting of screws etc, not to
mention the pesky clips on the interior door openers which keep
disappearing into the door innards. Of course, I have the advantage of no
electric windows with their associated cabling, but there's the
disadvantage of manually adjustable mirrors with their stiff wires to
compensate for that.

HTH,

Tom
