Pirelli P700Z Tires (low Audi content)
I too bought some Pirelli P700Z 205/50-15 tires for my 90q20v from the
Tire Rack for $71 each. Yes, they are made in Brazil but they are an
excellent tire for the price.
My question is, how did all the other P700Z owners mount their tires?
The tires have a symmetrical pattern and appear to be uni-directional.
The mounting instruction from the Tire Rack were confusing. They
originally told me to mount the tires so that the DOT number is facing
out. To achieve this the centre ribs would be pointing one direction on
the left side of the car and the opposite on the right side.
Original Mounting Directions:
front of car

This did not seem right to me, so I called Pirelli Consumer Affairs and
they told me that it does not matter which way the centre ribs are
pointing, but for appearance its OK to mount them so the ribs are
pointing in the same direction.
So I re-mounted the tires like this:
front of car
/ \ / \
/ \ / \
/ \ / \
/ \ / \
It would make sense to me that the ribs should be pointing in the same
direction.
Lets have a survey on mounting the P700Zs, what you're opinion?
