On the plus side, perhaps the similarity between the VW and Audi platforms
will mean Audi parts prices will be somewhat lower than usual, because
parts will be more readily available.

I know my father can get some parts for his '82 Coupe much cheaper than
the equivalent on my '85 Coupe GT, because some of his parts cross over
to a VW piece.  For example, my outer CV joints cost nearly twice as
much as one of his.  :(
