RE:Cruise control diagnosis
So far all my Audi cc problems have been traced to disconnected
wires but that could change. I haven't opened the cc box on by 5KCS but
did try it on some Mercedes boxes, Bosch built, several years ago. I
found the major problem was bad relays and I couldn't find replacements
for them. Has Bosch ever figured out how to make relays? Oops, thats
another topic. One of the most difficult parts of repairing a unit like
the cc is identifying what the part is once you've decided its bad. If
its a transistor it easy to substitue a universal part but with ICs it
can be hard to determine what it is. If you have a reasonable
understanding of electronics I'll recomend going for it. What's to
lose?
BTW: My first experience with Audis was repairing the elctronic
ignitions in early 70s 100LSs. Anybody remember those? I went broke
with my lifetime warranty on repaired units thanks to Bosch's design.
Busch Jaeger's I could fix.

If you don't care where you are, you ain't lost.
