Idle Problem

My 85 urq dies when the car is warmed up and idling. For example I'll be
coming to a stop, push in the clutch and the engine speed will drop to
idle then die. It started out as an infrequent occurrence but now is
very common. At first I simply adjusted the idle speed to 1000 rpm and
that solved the problem. If I leave the a/c on the car does not die and
when cold the car runs fine too.
 Anyone have some suggestions or areas I should explore?
