Re: S6

Pictures of new S6 in this weeks Autoweek here in the U.S.

Blurb was a follows :

"Audi plans an early 1999 debut for its sizzling new s6, a car
described by engineers as the spiritual successor to the legendary s2
quattro. Scooped here pounding its way around the Nurburgring, the new
Ingolstadt express is based around the A6 quattro introduced at the
Geneva Motor Show in March. Powering the S6 is a version of Audi's 4.2
liter (sic) V8 that's been tuned to deliver about 350 horsepower, good
for a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.2 seconds. The S6 also features widened
front and rear tracks. The S6 is distinguished from the A6 by wild
wheel arch flares and a noticeably lower ride height. It also has a
wider grille, slightly smaller headlamps and a new front bumper with
larger cooling ducts."

I went around to my Audi dealer and told him I want to put a deposit on
the car. Laurel Audi is the country's 3rd largest dealer and will get a
good allocation of them. They say around 400 or so to arrive in the
U.S. Price rumoured to be around the $50-$55k mark.
