Electrical Fire Coming? (Audi Gods?)

Having just returned from a one-day 700 mile blast in the 5000T, I was at
the pub, ran into a woman I used to know (4 yrs back), thought of her long
gone 5000 diesel, pulled my key out, said "I didn't learn!" The Audi gods
didn't like this. The 5k is running great- but I have a suspicion that
something's up electrically. The ignition key is getting hot! The switch
seems warm- not incredibly, no weird smells, and it's AZ summertime (heck,
the inside of the ashtray is warm, even) but still, I shudder at the
magnitude of the possible fire (Phil's GT?)- How would one troubleshoot
this?

On the other hand, a battery cutoff switch and an extinguisher are looking
better and better...
