Two possible areas. 1. is a switch in the wiper motor itself (best I could
tell in the Bentley wiring diagram) which senses the home or parked position.
If this switch were bad you would have continuous wiping though (I think).
The symptom you describe sounds like the wiper switch on the steering column.
Mine was doing the same thing in "one swipe mode" and cleaning the switch
with Cramolin (now called De-Oxit...Caig product) has cured the problem.
Squirted it in there without even having to take anything apart. Squirt some
up in there and excercise the switch to clean...repeat until it works (within
reason of course!) HTH
