Re AWD and 4WD

Rob Bailey's comment shows why I prefer/suggest a functional vice technical
definition of AWD and 4WD.  Otherwise one quickly mires in discussions of full
time/part time, driver selected/automatic, PTO/differentials, on and on. 
Discussions of technology are certainly fun but in this case doesn't explain the
difference between these two classes... which is intended use.  The technology
is only the means by which the functional intent is achieved and is, to me, a
dull razor with which to divide these two classes.

The lists were not intended to be inclusive, just exemplarly.
