There was no involvement from Audi AG. The use of the Audi name was because
Volkswagen of America, through its then current Porsche + Audi marketing and
distribution division, put up some of the money to sponsor the car.  Apart
from a name on the car due to a distribution relationship, there was zero
Audi content.
