HOTTER AUDI - Does the world really need a 340-hp, two seat hatchback that
will go from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 188 mph?
German tuner Avantegarde thinks so, and will unveil its highly modified Audi
A3 this month at the Frankfurt show. 
Avantegarde jams the 4.2-liter V8 from the Audi S8 into the A3's engine bay
and connects it to a 5 speed manual gearbox to drive the rear wheels. It
also revises the suspension and installs a special exhaust system, along
with 18-inch wheels and tires. Interior modifications include a full roll
cage, elimination of the back seat and installation of 2 lleather sport seats.
The car will be offered for sale in Germany, priced at $162,000.
