84 4kq questions

2 driveline questions. #1, on an 84 4kq, when you pull the diff. knob to the
first step, should that lock the front or rear diff? My 5kq locks the front
and my 4kq locks the rear. Just wondering if someone switched wires/vacuum
tubes.

#2 on the front diff, I drained the fluid out of both lower drain plugs. In
filling it back up with fresh fluid, does one fill it to the top of the
filler plug, or until it runs out of the rear plug, which is higher up.
Don't give me a fluid ammount, I have a drum of the diff oil which doesn't
have a guage on it.
