Di- Seat belt
This is actually the first Di related message that I've read.
Her not having a seat belt on was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard the news. I thought that this would be the bandwagon everyone would jump on, the seat belt safety band wagon. I am also very surprised to find out the course that this tragedy is taking.
No mater how safe and durable a car is, if your body is traveling at 120MPH and then comes to a stop,
there is much better chance of survival if your restrained than if you aren't so that you body slams into the seat or windshield in front of you at 120mph. I would much rather have a couple of black and blues marks from the seat belt then broken ribs from the headrest of the seat in front of me.
I too believe that she would be alive if she was wearing a seat belt. All of the crash engineering that goes into a car is designed with the mindset that the passenger will be wearing a seat belt. If the person chooses not to use it he or she it putting themselves at risk. Especially the way I drive.

Subject: Princess Di - no seat belt
I am amazed that the fact Di did not have a seat belt on hasn't played a
larger part in this story. I have studied the photos I have seen and I am
certain the passengers in the rear compartment would have survived had they
been buckled up.
This seems like a prime opportunity to press the logic behind wearing a seat
belt and instead it seems buried under media hype. Perhaps "those in charge"
would just assume it not be made a big story because then the real tragity
comes to light - Princess Di would still be alive today.
My .02 cents
