Well said, as always. I totally agree.
Many years ago I had a fortunate experience that has stuck with me ever
since. Not as dramatic or painful as Unka Bart's turning of a fiberglass
sculpture into kindling...
I was pulling out of my street, making a left onto another side street. Guy
in a *big* new Caddie tooling along, right turn signal on. I figure this
guy's going to turn right, and I start to go. Then I stop. Don't know why.
Caddie tools right by at 30 mph, signal blinking futily.
Ever since then I've taken the time to *think*. What's this guy probably
gonna do. What's he likely to do. What kind of *boneheaded* move *could* he
do.
I won't jinx myself, but this has worked for me time and time again. Yep,
the 4 meter car pulled into a 3.5 meter space. Yep, he turned right from
the left lane. Yep, she *is* doing her nails at 65 in heavy traffic. Yep,
this jerk *will* tailgate anything in front of him.. Nope, she didn't look
before she turned.
Maybe its cos I ride a bicycle a *lot* and know I'm totally unprotected on
it. Maybe Darwin likes me.
KOW
As Unka Bart said...my destiny sure is my responsibility...and I'll act and
drive accordingly. No one else is standing in line to save my ass.
