Changing Transmission Flu
I'm thinking of changing over the tranny fluid from the
current (?) dino juice to synthetic. (1990 V8Q) On cars
that don't have a torque converter drain (most) I usually
drill a small hole in the converter to drain it, and then
put a short teflon bolt to plug the hole. I've never had
a problem with this procedure, but I really don't want to
do this on the V8Q, I'm thinking about disconnecting
the tranny lines at the cooler, turning on the engine, and
pumping the old fluid out of the torque converter this way.
Two questions:
1. Can running the tranny dry in this fashion
damage something in the ZF tranny?
2. Is sythetic Automatic Transmission fluid 100%
compatible with the regular fluid?
