Re:Lincoln Town Car

Some years back, I was in CA on business and rented a Baby blue Lincoln
Town Boat and drove from San Diego to L.A. (I am a Brit ex-pat living
in Illinois).
Although I live in the U.S., on this occasion I used my British driving
licence (a sheet of wallpaper vs the nice lickle plastic card with a
photo that we have in Illinois) to rent the car (and experiment just in
case I got a ticket...). Well, I got pulled over by a CHPS Rustang (the
one without the Mars lights, just the silly little foldout red
spotlight) and he said "Sir, do you know what speed you were going" and
in my best British accent I said " Oh yes officer, 85 mph, I was flat
out in this huge beast trying to make up time for a late business
appointment in L.A.". He then pointed out to me (like I didn't know
..) that the 85mph speedo did not reflect the top speed of the car -
he had me at 112! I said I thought that a bit dangerous and told him
how amazed I was at this piece of automotive silliness! He then asked
me what the speed limit was in "my country" and I simply stated
"Whatever we can get away with officer". He grinned a bit and asked for
my licence, he took one look at it, shrugged in disgust then handed it
back and then told me to slow down and just keep up with the flow of
traffic.

NAC - One week to the day since our slushbox was fixed on the A4q and
its driving like a dream. Anyone had their A4 2.8 flat out yet? Whats
the top end?
