The adjustable cam gear is a gear that allows the cam timing to be
adjusted in 1 degree increments.I think mine goes +- 7 degrees.
Adjustable is not to be confused with automatic.And I think if you check
the part numbers for the VW and AUDI cam gears they are the same.This
only applies to AUDIs up to 89 when they changed belt design.
