All of these mods, IME, have an impact on driveability. They're sold as $/hp,
but often have deleterious effects on other aspects of performance, and low-end
torque is one such.
The official test for the WR turbo is to run the car in second gear, foot hard
down, to 5500rpm and hold it there using the brakes. Maximum ten seconds!
Using a spreadsheet, you can recreate the graph in the factory documentation -
two straight lines giving the lower limit and upper limit.
The lower limit stretches from 0.67 bar at +20c to 0.83 bar at -20c. The upper
limit is from 0.69 bar at +20c to 0.85 bar at -20c. WRs go a _lot_ better in
cold weather!
K24 applications, BTW, typically use _lower_ boost pressures than stock WRs.
The WR is a high boost/low compression engine when compared with its successors
such as the MB and MC.
