The alternator is not a problem, but the stock headlight wiring most definitely 
is.  Many of us don't trust it to run the stock lights, much less anything 
added on.  The best option, IMO, is to run new wire to a real Audi switch.
 
Watch the legal position.  In the UK, it's technically illegal (I know, I know) 
to run dipped headlights and foglights at the same time.  In some countries, 
this behaviour must be wired in.
